Hawksworth to Dream Valley - Race Results
The Second Annual Hawksworth Bridge to Dream Valley Resort Race on February 8th, 2014 part sponsored by Old Master Fine Rums had a great turn out of paddlers with 26 teams paddling this weekend. The contingency from the Cayo District represented and paddled their home water very well taking the top 5 places. Belize Bank Bulldogs – Armin Lopez, Daniel Cruz and Amado Cruz took top honors finishing with a time of 3:07:36. Right on their stern was Westrac, Jerry Cante, Erwin Cruz and Hener Cruz. Third place goes to Roy and Eric Cano along with Andres Cabb sponsored by BTL / Cobb’s Family. Team NICH, Oscar Cordon, Felix and Efrain Cruz came in fifth place overall. In sixth place were Chris Guydis, Jerry Rhaburn and Francis “Bunky” Codd paddling for Joseph & Taylor. D & A Construction paddled into ninth place overall with Leon and Raymond Gillett along with Jeremy Sanchez steering this canoe. Two teams from Statistical Institute of Belize rounded out the male category. Team 1, Javan Chavarria, Jason Neal and Noel Aute edged out their Team A made up of Valentino Choco, Leslie Cruz and Danny Tun. In the Intramural Category we had Western Home Supplies finishing in fourth place overall with Alfred Lopez, Byron and Armando Cruz, St. Ignatius High School students, keeping in stride with the race leaders finishing with a time of 3:07:52. The Wateva Boyz – Adrian Williams, Sergio Lopez and Jesus Linares - sponsored by D & D Consultancy Ltd finished in seventh place overall. Mixed Category had a lot of teams in this race. Top honors were taken by Black Orchid Resort – Jayda Guydis, Wilberto Daniels and Jermaine Sanchez - who finished 8th overall with a time of 3:14:16. Second place in this category was Coast Guard Belize, Godfrey and Johnathan Alford along with Granne Cayetano. The Coast Guard Guardians, Glen Jones, Tiffara Welch and Toni Franzua finished right behind their team mates. The BDF and Benny’s sponsored the Wave Runners– Jason Carillo, Sarita Perez and Jaime Cruz - finished fourth in this category. Team Police sponsored the Crime Fighters - Trevor Lennon, Audrey Moody and Andy Pech - who paddled in fifth place for the mixed category. Rounding out this category was Magic Carpet, Jose Luis Carrias, Sylvia Duran and Dwayne August, another team sponsored by BDF and Benny’s. The Masters category was again dominated by our regular rivals. The Grumpy Old Men, sponsored by Caribbean Engineering (Jerry Wilken, Stanley Bailey and Joe Seguro) finished ahead of the Sea Sports Belize Team made up of John and Michael Searle and Robert Bailey. The Pleasure Category had Miguel Guerra, Daniel Harris and Jesus Cruz paddling team Beep-Beep sponsored by BDF/Loans to Go for a first place victory. Crime Fighters, Nery Waight, Daniel Jimenez and Amin August finished in second place. Ernest Santo, Rudolph Gentle and Francisco Perez paddled Print Belize into the third spot. Rounding out the Pleasure category was another team sponsored by BDF/Loans to Go, Branches paddled by Osiris Obando, Jonathan Guerra and Jeffrey Carrillo. The River Kings from Belize Rural High School won the Juniors Category with Jeffrey Seguro, Matthew Mask and Ashton Moody setting the time at 3:25:24 for this category. The Turd’z, Martin Gideon, Sergio Barerra and Glenford Sutherland, sponsored by Martin Woods finished in second place. Our Female paddlers had Team Koop Sheet Metal finishing in first place with sisters Lily and Ana Cruz along with Delilah Cabb reaching the finish line in 3:42:54. Not far behind was Party Tun Up with sisters Jane and Bobby Usher along with Ruth Cruz sponsored by Rt. Hon. Said Musa rounding out this 2nd Annual Hawksworth Bridge to Dream Valley Race. All first place team in each category received a cash prize and a medal, second placed also received a cash prize and a medal. Third place finishers received a medal only. Our thanks to all the paddlers, fans and supporters; special thanks to Dream Valley Resort for hosting us, and Old Master Fine Rum for helping to make this event a success. DHC Riverside Easter Bash Race The Double Head Cabbage Village Council is have a race to coincidence with their annual riverside Easter Bash. Below is the race information. Date: Holy Saturday, April 19th, 2014 Time: 2:30pm (after Cross Country) 15 laps around the buoys, in front of the view area. Open Race (one race) No Categories Prizes: 1st place $250+ medals 2nd place $150 + medals 3rd place $100 + medals 4th place $50. Registration: $50. |

More Tomorrow Race - May 19th The More Tomorrow Village Day 221st Anniversary Celebration Canoe Race is on May 18, 2014 The Race is an Open Race starting at 10am from under the Agripino Cawich Bridge (that’s on the Valley of Peace Road) ending at the Sandy Bay at More Tomorrow Village. Registration is $100 and you can register starting at 8 am the morning of the race or any time before. The race is 3 persons to a canoe, any combination and you must wear your life jackets. Prizes: 1st place - $600 + Trophy + Medals 2nd place - $350 + Medals 3rd place - $150 + Medals 4th place - $75 Station Prizes: First Station Prize is at the Hammock Bridge: $50 for the team in the lead and $50 for the first amateur team. The Second Station Prize is at the Banana Bank Lodge's steps where the rope was. This is for the first team to pass there. The Prize is 3 horseback riding at Banana Bank. Special Prizes: The Organizers have informed the Association that there are lots of surprised prizes, some of which have already been determined and some will be determined on the day of the race. They say they do things differently and there may be a surprised prize for everyone. So bring your team participate who knows what surprise awaits you. Oh please don’t ask me what they are because I’m not privileged to them, even though I asked. They said it’s a surprise so I’ll just like you and will know what these are when they are awarded. The event at More Tomorrow is a Family Fun Day Celebration with lots of food, drinks and music, come on out and bring the family to enjoy the day and watch the race. 3 Races - Easter Weekend 2013 If you are coming from the Cayo District, please leave ahead of the Cross Country. ONE - BURRELL BOOM - March 30 The Henderson's are organizing a short race on Holy Saturday. March 30, 2013. This was a hurry thought of race to provide some activity to that day. The Location will be at Henderson's Bank. a) 3 laps from Henderson's Bank to Boom Bridge and back! go around a buoy. b) Will be open to all categories, PROVIDING there are 2 or more entrants! c) Race Reg: FREE d) starting at 10am e) 1st prize in each Category, $50. 2nd prize $25 f) we may have a kayak category as well. Paddlers find their own food! NON BCAnoe endorsed race. Visitors entrance to the location is $2 Adult, $1 child. TWO - DOUBLE HEAD CABBAGE - March 30 After we're done at Henderson's we put our canoes on our trucks and move up to Double Head for the afternoon race. Race starts at 2pm. a) BCAnoe Endorsed, all BCAnoe paddlers will receive points b) Reg $50 before the race c) route: DHC to Landing Bridge and back upstream to DHC d) Cash Prizes and trophies for 1st and 2nd places all categories e) T-Shirt, food and a drink for all paddlers THREE - SITTEE RIVER - April 1 The Sittee River Village Council has extended an invitation to BCAnoe members to participate in their annual canoe race on Easter Monday, April 1, 2013. This is the first invitation and as a trial it will open be open to a few categories this year. Next year we hope to have a full race. There are also having Easter Fair on that day. NON BCAnoe Endorsed Race. a) Categories : Male, Mixed, and Juniors ONLY (BCAnoe members) a1) they will also have their local paddlers participating in their own category b) Reg $50 before the race at football field. c) Race starts at 11am d) route: fair grounds close the the football field to the Marina and back (1 1/2hr) e) Prize each category above: 1st - $250 / 2nd - $150 f) Food and Drinks for Paddlers See you all at these races! |

Race Announcement: Rancho Dolores Race - May 25
Rancho Dolores Village is having a fundraising event on May 25, 2013. One of the entertainment is a Canoe Race they are having starting at 10am. The race is from Rancho to Lemonal and back about 2 hours total. The Race is opened to ALL categories and includes a $50 registration fee. Registration can be done the morning before the race starting at 9 am in Rancho. They are offering 1st place cash prize at $150 plus a trophy and 2nd place cash prize at $75 plus a trophy for each category. They have invited our members to take part in the race. I encourage you to come and support their fundraising event. Our members who are taking part, please let us know so that they can prepare food for you. thx! |

Father Day Fun Race 2011 The Father's Day Fun Race is going to be on June 19th, 2011. The Race will kick off from Flower's Bank Village and ending at the Black Orchid Resort in Burrell Boom Village. Registration Fee is $60 and it includes a meal for paddlers after the race. Registration is at 8:am and race time is at 8:30am which should bring us to end at or before 12 midday. Because this is a FUN RACE, we have included SPECIAL RULES for paddlers in a team. The idea here is to mixed up the teams and have fun. It's a FUN RACE! Male > ONE professional Ruta Maya male paddler with two non-pro Female > ONE professional Ruta Maya female paddler with two non-pro All Others > TWO regular experience paddlers for that category, with one non regular/non pro Prizes will be determined on race day, however, there is a dinner for 6 for the first place finishers at Black Orchid Resort. Let's come out and have some fun. Boom to Bayview 2009 Race Results
Seven (7) canoes participated in the Boom To Bayview canoe race, and a large crowd of over 100 supporters greeted the canoes as they arrived. Heavy seas of 18 inches to 2 feet, and high winds gusting to 20 knots tested the skills of the paddlers in each canoe as they negotiated their way to the finish line. The large crowd was amazed at the skill of each paddler as they negotiated their canoes to the finish line without incident, and their cheers and applause were greatly appreciated by all who participated. Male Division 1st. Place and overall winner - CPBL; Chris Guydis, Justin and Jermain Sanchez 2nd. Place - Chris Trucking; Dewayne, Jeremy, and Elsen Sanchez 3rd, Place - Rock 'n' Roll; Rupert Smith, Leroy Young, and Nelson Robinson Female Division 1st. Place, Diamond Girls; Anisa Vernon, Sherlene Humphreys, and Tiffara Welch Masters Division 1st. Place, Grumpy Old Men; Otto Peterson, Stanley Bailey, and Jerry Wilken 2nd Place, Wet Lizard; Francis (Bunky) Codd, Charles Chavannes, and Joe Fuzy Pleasure Division 1st. Place, Print Belize; Erwin Cruz,Rudolph Gentle, and Javier Guardado Trophy's and over $1,200.00 in prize money was handed out with CPBL, taking home $600.00 in prize money, and 2 trophy's.
