TACOS FEST 2015 RACE REPORT
The Tacos Festival 2015 Race was held on Saturday, November 22, 2015 in conjunction with the Annual Tacos Festival in Orange Walk District. Ten (10) teams in four different categories gathered and the starting line at Lamanai Eco Tours Resort, from where they left at 10:12 a.m. The teams travelled along the Belize New River for an average of 1 hour and 45 minutes, after turning at the 2nd Bypass Bridge and racing back to Banquitas for the finish. In the Male Category, there were six contenders: Cobb’s Arm, Westrac Nitro, Guydis Canoes, Belize Bank Bulldogs, NICH and Koop Sheet Metal and it proved to be a competitive race. In the end, Belize Bank Bulldogs’ – Armin, Amado and Bayron Cruz - claimed first place in a time of 1 hour 28 minutes and 49 seconds by outsprinting NICH’s - Efrain Cruz, Felix Cruz, Alex Cruz,- who settled for second place by a very narrow 1 second margin, completing the race in a time of 1:28:50. The Intramural Category was claimed by the Whateva Boyz- Carlos Linarez, Adrian Williams and Sergio Lopez – in a time of 1 hour 39 minutes and 15 seconds, and the Pleasure Category was claimed by Print Belize’s – Rudolph Gentle, Leroy Romero and Jason Trapp – in 1 hour 42 minutes and 37 seconds. Guydis Too and Challenge Gobie Foundation battled it out in the Mixed Category, but after 1 hour 46 minutes and 31 seconds, Guydis Too’s – Martin Gideon, Avis Guydis and Felix Rhaburn – would win the category and Challenge Gobie Foundation’s Minguel Mangandid, Bradley Ayala and Roxana Lemus would get second place in a time of 1:50:14. All first place teams received $200.00 and second place teams received $100.00. REGISTRATION: $50 ROUTE: start at Lamanai Eco-Tours to San Estevan Village by the Lion's Den turn around the buoy returning for the finishing at Banquitas House of Culture (NICH) in Orange Walk Town. All Categories, (Male, Female, Mixed, Masters, Pleasure, Intramural, Juniors) PRIZES: 1st $200, 2nd $100, all categories. Medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers for all categories. FOOD: Lots of Tacos will be available for purchase! OTHER INFO: Race will be broadcast live on Universal Radio in OW. |

Tacos Fest Canoe Race 2013 Tacos Fest Race INFO: YOU MUST WEAR A LIFE JACKET DATE: Nov 24, 2013 TIME: 10:30am REGISTRATION: $30 ROUTE: start at Lamanai Eco-Tours passing Banquitas to the last bridge (second bridge on the OW by-pass road) turn around and finish at Banquitas House of Culture (NICH) NO CATEGORIES so its just one race PRIZES: 1st $300, 2nd $200, 3rd $100, 4th - 8th $50, station prize (gift basket) at San Estevan Bridge at Banquitas, the 1st canoe only. OTHER RACES: Sprint for Cash - there will be 4 races, one winner per race; Women's Solo, Men's Solo, Men's Double, Mixed. $25 solo winner and $50 for double winners, each member of the winning team for these Sprints get a medal also.
